10 Discontinued MAC Lipsticks We Miss & 10 Popular Shades We'll Never Get Sick Of

10 Discontinued MAC Lipsticks We Miss & 10 Popular Shades We'll Never Get Sick Of

Iconic Colors We Never Forgot About

MAC has all sorts of creamy swatches we can’t get enough of! We’ve tried everything from the brightest blues to the most subtle roses, and with so many shades over the years, we’ve narrowed down a few of the best ones to grace our collection. The only tragedy of this list is knowing that half of them won’t ever see our makeup mirror again.

1. Mocha

We never thought we’d see the day MAC discontinued this fan favorite! Mocha was a stunning satin lipstick that matched nearly every skin tone, only slightly darker than your average nude color. It came with a slightly orange undertone that worked especially well with medium or darker tones, and we still think about it.

2. Verve

Verve is another satin lipstick we were sad to see go, a muted mauve shade with a slightly plummy look that had an incredibly creamy finish. Thankfully, you can still nab a few dupes, such as Lakme’s Nude Toast, but nothing will ever top the original.

3. Odyssey

It’s not every day you feel confident enough to rock a plum-based lipstick, but Odyssey was a gorgeous color with a slight sparkle. The frost finish could be built upon with a bit of layering, but even a simple swatch brought a great burst of color.

4. Twig

Oh, Twig—one of the most beautiful pinks we ever laid eyes on. Sure, they have a solid dupe available, but it doesn’t match the rosy brown that complemented any skin tone. We always think about this one when we try to reach for that perfect darker pink.

5. Girl About Town

There was no subtlety with Girl About Town—you were one hundred percent committed to the bright pop of pink that always managed to turn heads. We know it seemed a little bold, but imagine our surprise when this adorable fuscia hit the bricks.

6. Fresh Brew

If you needed a light brown with warm tones, Fresh Brew was your lady. However, MAC didn’t seem to think so and inexplicably pulled this from shelves. What makes it even worse is that it was a pretty popular shade for the girlies.

7. Plumful

Don’t get us started on Plumful. As the name suggests, it was a medium plum color with a nice and natural finish, but it boasted so much more than the average shade. It also had a touch of pink that wasn’t overpowering, and not a day goes by that we don’t miss those cool tones.

8. Fleshpot

Not everyone likes a so-called nude that leans more on the pink side. Especially for those with darker tones, the whole thing can seem a bit much. But Fleshpot managed to work on a number of skin tones, seamlessly blending in with a natural finish that we’ve wanted back for years.

9. Jubilee

Who can resist a dark peach and a natural finish? MAC, apparently! Despite being the perfect everyday shade, our favorite cosmetics company grabbed this from the shelves and hasn’t found a suitable replacement since.

10. Prince Noir

Prince Noir and Girl About Town share something in common: their bold lovability! It was a deep, rich burgundy that went on matte and had tons of pigment. If the light caught it just right, you could even see a touch of plum that tied the whole shade together. It was an amazing fall shade, but sadly, got discontinued.

MAC can take away our favorites, but they won’t pull all of them! We hope you’re ready for some classic picks we hope last forever.

1. Ruby Woo

What can we say about Ruby Woo? It’s a bright, stunning lipstick that’s basically the perfect red. It doesn’t matter who you are or where you’re going—anyone can rock the shade, and there’s a reason why it’s a continuous bestseller. (Just make sure you moisturize your lips after applying!)

2. Chili

Okay, maybe you don’t want to walk around town with a shock of red. No problem! Chili is a dark copper with a satin finish, one that holds all the color without drawing all the attention. It has an incredible mix of brown, orange, and red that somehow looks exactly like its name suggests.

3. Velvet Teddy

Imagine you could smear a rose petal on your lips for a gorgeous matte pink. You’ve just imagined Velvet Teddy! This stunner comes with warmer rose tones and is a great everyday option. The best thing about this one is just how smooth the consistency is, all without a crazy opaque color.

4. Mehr

Mehr is about the closest thing we’ll get to Twig nowadays. We’re not complaining—with a satin finish and pink-mauve shade, it’s a bit lighter than our favorite discontinued color. It’s not as bold either, which makes it a good match for anyone in need of a simple nude.

5. Lady Danger

How could we possibly ignore Lady Danger, a bold, warm coral that gives even the brightest reds a run for their money? It’s a fun blend of orange and red, one that goes on smoothly and boasts a semi-matte finish. You don’t need to layer more than one coat, either!

6. Diva

Diva’s no match for our beloved Prince Noir, but that’s no reason to ignore it. You still get the deep burgundy and satin finish, but this one comes with a subtle red undertone that makes it a little brighter than your average vampiric look. Either way, we feel like divas in the best way!

7. Taupe

Oh boy, is there any better nude on the market right now? We don’t think so! Taupe provides a brilliant medium brown that’s one of the best everyday shades. It’s a touch on the darker side, but the color payoff and frost finish complement that rich, rosy hue.

8. Whirl

Looking for a silky matte that also moisturizes your lips? Why not give this color a whirl? It’s described by MAC as a dirty rose, and we couldn’t agree more—it has warm, subtle tones that match just about every skin tone, and it’s a good option for daily use.

9. D for Danger

The only danger of this lipstick is how much whiplash you’ll cause! It’s a gorgeous, silky matte red that comes with incredible color payoff and a splash of berry undertones. Think of it like a wearable fruit salad.

10. Creme in Your Coffee

Creme in Your Coffee sounds like it would be on the brown side, but this surprising shade is a dark pink with warm tones! It quickly became a fan favorite, and with great pigmentation and a satin finish, it’s easy to see why.
