20 Male Physical Attributes Women Get Too Picky About

Attraction Doesn’t Need To Be A Checklist

Finding your special someone can be a difficult road ahead of you, and while it's okay to have preferences that guide your decisions, you shouldn't be so strict as to shut out anyone who doesn't check your boxes. It just makes dating too complicated! After all, a good relationship isn't going to come just because a man has the facial hair you like or the eye color of your dreams; here are just 20 male physical attributes women get too caught up in.

1. Height

If he's the man of your dreams, does it really matter if he's 5' 5" or 6' 0"? The answer should be no, but unfortunately, height is one of the most common physical traits women get picky about. Wanting someone taller is fine, but treating a few inches like a major character flaw is seriously unreasonable (and honestly rude).

2. Hairline

A man’s hairline can change with age, genetics, or stress, and it's not always something they can control. That's why judging them for their hairline is extremely inconsiderate, especially because it doesn't always say much about someone's overall attractiveness. Some people look great with a full head of hair, but others can look just as polished with the right style.

3. Jawline

A lot of women associate a strong jawline with masculinity, which is why it gets so much attention in photos, movies, and social media. But the truth is, real faces come in many shapes, and a fit man doesn't always have the sharpest of jawlines.

4. Muscle Definition

There’s a big difference between being healthy and looking like someone who spends hours every day training for a body-building competition. Defined muscles can be attractive, but not everyone has the time, genetics, or lifestyle to maintain that look. A man who takes care of himself can show that in more ways than just muscles.

5. Eye Color

You know you're getting picky when eye color becomes something you point out in men. Sure, eye color can be striking, but it's a completely uncontrollable feature that has nothing to do with anyone's personality! Blue, green, brown, or grey, they can all be attractive in different ways, and it's not something you should be particular about.

6. Teeth

Poorly cared-for teeth might be a red flag for hygiene, but expecting perfectly straight, bright-white teeth is just unrealistic and honestly, a bit much. Many people have slightly uneven teeth, small gaps, or natural coloring that shouldn't affect their attractiveness. Not everyone has the money to spend on braces or whitening strips!

7. Nose Shape

You don't get to choose how big or what shape your nose will be when you're born, and it shouldn't be a huge factor that women use as a matter of attractiveness. When you focus too heavily on one facial feature, you might miss how well the whole face works together.

8. Skin Texture

Don't buy the photoshopped, blurred faces you see on social media or in Hollywood; real skin has pores, marks, scars, bumps, and wrinkles. Digital outlets may have made smooth, filtered skin seem normal, but you should know most people don’t look like that in real life.

9. Body Hair

Some women prefer a very groomed look, while others like a more natural one, and both preferences are fair. It only starts to become a problem when body hair becomes treated like a man's serious flaw. Whether someone has chest hair, arm hair, or very little hair at all, grooming habits matter more than meeting one exact standard.

10. Hand Size

For some women, hand size is oddly important, despite revealing pretty much nothing about someone as a partner or their level of attractiveness. The larger the hands the better apparently, signalling strength, masculinity, and protectiveness somehow; it's one of those details that can be bigger in your mind than it needs to be.

11. Shoulder Width

Broad shoulders get a lot of attention from women, but not every body type is built that way. Some men are naturally narrow-framed, lean, or compact, but they can still look stylish and put together. A well-dressed person with good posture can make a strong impression even without fitting to this one weird body-type desire.

12. Voice

We know that many women find a deep voice attractive, but putting too much emphasis on this trait can shut you out from a lot of good guys. Some people naturally have lighter, softer, raspier, or more expressive voices, and those qualities can become charming too if you give them a chance.

13. Facial Hair

Beards, mustaches, stubble, and clean-shaven faces all suit different people, which is why picking just one as a preference will make things difficult for you. Some men look better with facial hair, while others look more polished without it, and that can also change over time. Being overly strict about facial hair just seems unreasonable.

14. Weight

You should never make judgments about someone's weight on the first meeting, especially because it can be tied to more than just health but age, personal circumstances, and more. Attraction to someone more fit is valid, but being too rigid about someone’s exact size can make dating feel more like judging than connecting.

15. Fashion Sense

Style does matters because it shows effort, but you shouldn't be too harsh about expecting that men all have to dress like movie stars in the trendiest of clothes. A man who dresses plainly might still be open to improving his style too, especially if he’s never had much reason to think about it. Passing on someone only because he isn’t perfectly styled right away is just a bit immature.

16. Posture

Good posture can make anyone look more confident, and while slouching isn't the best, give them a chance! Plenty of people slouch from long workdays, bad habits, or plain tiredness. It’s fair to notice posture, but just remember it doesn’t always reflect someone’s personality or potential.

17. Lip Shape

Full lips, thin lips, wide smiles - a man's lips varies from man to man, and honestly, can all be attractive depending on the person. Lip shape is such a specific feature that it really shouldn’t carry too much weight on its own.

18. Leg Shape

Women sometimes go as far as to focus on whether a man has long legs, muscular calves, or a certain body proportion. But the truth is, in everyday life, most of this is barely noticeable unless you’re actively looking for it!

19. Age Lines

It's not just women, the whole world has a weird obsession with staying young. From fine lines to forehead creases and smile lines, these aren't things to judge, these are things to celebrate! Being too picky about age lines is rude, immature, and simply unfair to anyone, man or woman.

20. Overall “Type”

There's nothing wrong with having a type, but when you follow it too strictly, it can also become limiting. Just because someone doesn't match your typical visual preference, doesn't mean they aren't worth seeing. Consider their confidence, humor, kindness, and more before shutting them out just because you're being too picky.
