Which Scent Do You Like Best?
Bath and Body Works is known for its three-wick candles, and you can count us among the fans. They somehow manage to stick our favorite scents into a cozy jar, one that lasts for weeks and wafts through the whole house. But which scents are strong enough for a room, and which ones boast a subtler scent? Come with us as we explore our favorites from each category!
1. Pumpkin Apple
You have to really like pumpkin (or apples) to grab this scent. Luckily, we do, and we think it’s one of the strongest autumnal candles! It’s the perfect blend of cinnamon, apple, and clove, but you probably want to light it a few feet away from you. It doesn’t take much for this guy to get going.
2. Mahogany Teakwood
Mahogany teakwood isn’t everyone’s cup of tea, but there’s no denying the scent’s power. It’s easy to paint a picture: simply imagine a few drops of lavender in an Abercrombie store. If that sounds good to you, you’re in luck, because the candle can easily fill your home. m01229 from USA on Wikimedia
3. Fresh Bamboo
We’d be remiss if we didn’t mention this discontinued powerhouse. It had just about everything we ever wanted: wild grasses, jasmine, and, you guessed it, fresh bamboo. The combo didn’t agree with everyone, but it was one of our favorites.
4. ‘Tis the Season
Rich apple, cinnamon, and cedarwood? Count us in! The notes might sound like a fall combo, but this candle was actually rolled out during the holidays. Though it doesn’t really matter when you light it, ‘cause the notes’ versatility makes it a perfect year-round choice.
5. Perfect Autumn
Thank goodness this is the perfect autumn day—otherwise you’d have one heck of a strong scent you didn’t even like! Not to worry, Bath & Body Works always nails their autumnal choices, so you’ll have a great mix of cranberry, pumpkin, and apples.
6. Cranberry Woods
We’d love a forest made of cranberries, but alas. Thankfully, we have this candle, one with cranberry, forest cedar, and cinnamon bark. It has a delightfully rich scent that easily makes its way through any room, so it’s a win-win.
7. Fresh Balsam
Bath & Body Works wasn’t kidding when they put “fresh” in the name. This little guy has all kinds of soothing scents, like eucalyptus, cedarwood, and fir branches. Think of it like walking through your own personal forest, but with the cozy glow of a three-wick on your mantle!
8. Pumpkin Pecan Waffles
The scent notes are right there in the name, so you know right away if it’s up your alley! It also has maple syrup and brown sugar baked right in, so your entire house will smell like a bakery. It’s a pretty strong one, though, so you might want to light it downwind.
9. Sweet Carrot Cake
Who doesn’t love a good slice of carrot cake? While you obviously don’t want to eat the candle, you can still delight in its cinnamon spice notes! It wasn’t advertised as a fall candle, but we certainly think it fits the season.
10. Paris Cafe
If we can’t sit in a Paris cafe, we can darn sure smell like one! Bust out the teacups and the chocolate mousse; this Bath & Body Works candle stuffed coffee, brioche, and vanilla crème into one incredible candle. Best of all, it’s nice and strong, too.
It’s okay if strong scents aren’t your thing—you have plenty of enjoyable, subtle options to choose from!
1. Fresh Sparkling Snow
Alright, we’ll say it: snow doesn’t have a scent, so it’s hard to picture what this brings to the table. (Not everyone liked it, so that might be a good thing.) In its heyday, this candle was really just fruit and musk that blended for a soft scent that didn’t clear the room.
2. Pumpkin Snickerdoodle
You’re in a pickle: you want the kitchen to smell like cookies, but you don’t want to make them. Oh boy, is this candle for you. Your space will smell like sugar cookies and nutmeg, all with a little dash of cinnamon.
3. Honeycrisp Apple
Honeycrisp Apple is one of the best scents Bath & Body Works has released. It’s an impeccable blend of apple blossom and sugarcane, leaving a touch of gentle fragrance in the home. It immediately transports you to a fall day, too.
4. Sun-Drenched Linen
Sometimes, we just want our homes to smell like laundry—without doing a load! This one’s still pretty strong, but unlike its brothers, it’s not overwhelming. All you have to do is open the lid to get a whiff of fresh linen and apple.
5. Fiji White Sands
You can always take a trip to Fiji, but will its beaches smell like nectarine and sandalwood? We didn’t think so! This candle is like a vacation in a jar, and it won’t burn your nose with an overpowering scent.
6. Honey Wildflower
How do pear, wildflowers, and honey sound? We love the combination, too! This phenomenal candle is great any time of the year, especially because it offers a softer floral scent that doesn’t tip into your grandma’s perfume bottle. It does, however, capture the summertime.
7. White Tea and Sage
Unfortunately, you won’t find this candle on shelves anymore, but that doesn’t mean we forgot about it. It had an earthy, herbal fragrance that worked well as a clean, gentle scent. The candle may be gone, but you can still get it in a hand sanitizer!
8. Eucalyptus Rain
You never really know how eucalyptus will go; sometimes it’s nice and subtle, and other times it’s far too powerful. Luckily, this candle falls on the softer side. In addition to the eucalyptus, it also has a touch of spearmint, leaving you with the freshest fragrance around.
9. Lavender & Cedarwood
You wouldn’t think these two would pair well, but they really do. The notes complement each other for a relaxing, gentle scent that doesn’t overpower the house. It’s also a great way to lull yourself to sleep (though you should always extinguish your candles beforehand)!

10. Black Cherry Merlot
Black Cherry Merlot is a scent anyone can—and does—get behind. It’s been in sanitizers and spray bottles alike, but we like it best in a candle. It sort of smells like a warmer cherry ice cream, complete with raspberries and plum.
