Men's fashion icons aren't necessarily chosen because everyone finds them attractive. Sometimes a guy becomes a style legend because other men admire his confidence, clothing, grooming, or ability to pull off something unusual, while some women simply don't find the overall look appealing. Of course, attraction is personal, and plenty of women absolutely do like the men on this list.

Male style icons like David Beckham have been around for decades. Men love how Beckham has mastered masculine styles ranging from rugged to polished to totally out-there. Beckham's fashion credentials aren't really in question, but his particular brand of masculinity isn't universally attractive.

Johnny Depp built his personal style around ripped-up clothing, way too many hats, scarves, layered necklaces, rolled-up jeans, boots, and messy hair. It's a very distinct look that men trying to rock the scruffy rocker vibe have attempted for years. Women who like that style can find Depp insanely attractive, while others might see it all as costume-y.

Rebellious looks like James Dean's perfectly defined what it meant to be a guy in the 1950s.
