Don’t Make These Mistakes
The world of fashion can be especially brutal for men and women both. While you should wear whatever you want at the end of the day, it’s clear to see that some styles are better than others. In fact, most women can agree that certain male fashion trends need to come to a stop. So if any of these points describe you or a man you know, maybe it’s time to rethink that wardrobe.
1. Not Trying
It’s clear to see when a man just isn’t trying. There’s no thought or effort put into his outfit, leaving some wondering if he got dressed in the dark. This is especially the case for dating profiles, where a lot of women complain about men who clearly aren’t trying to show their best selves.
2. No Basic Grooming
Basic grooming often involves trimming your beard, combing your hair, and brushing your teeth. It’s not rocket science, but unfortunately, some people miss this most basic of steps. Presentation is very important, and it’s clear to see when no basic grooming went into the look.
3. Clothes That Don’t Fit
Another common mistake men make is buying clothes that are too big or too small for them. Unless they’re going for an oversized look, most women take note of way-too-tight tank tops or massive sweatpants that drown a dude out. So be sure to buy clothes that fit your body shape, whatever that may be.
4. Sunglasses on the Back of Your Neck
Guy Fieri unfortunately popularized this strange trend. Some men say it’s just a convenient place to put their sunglasses when not in use, but perhaps on the top of the head would be wiser. Either way, this strange look is considered an off-putting choice by most women.
5. Loose Jeans
This isn’t about low-riding, but more so about super baggy jeans that don’t actually fit your legs or butt. These jeans just kind of hang limply around the hips and make the lower half look almost non-existent. You don’t want jeans that are too tight, but certainly not super baggy either.
6. Too Much Black
Okay, this one’s a bit controversial, and if you really love the color, go for it. But there’s a trend among men to gravitate toward dark colors, with some having wardrobes that are entirely black. While black is certainly a cool color, too much of it all the time can feel uninspiring and like you’re trying to hide.

7. Funny Quote Shirts
Some shirt quotes are pretty funny, but others are just in really poor taste. For instance, those FBI “Federal Body Inspector” shirts are a yikes. Most women find these things polarizing rather than silly.
8. Keep It Clean
At the end of the day, if there’s one piece of advice you should take away from this article above all, it’s just to keep things clean. No matter what you wear, just ensure there aren’t any stains on it and that it smells somewhat nice. A bit of hygiene goes a long way!

9. Baseball Hats
Some hats are cool, and some hats are practical. But certain hats are unattractive. In fact, most women like to see men’s natural hair rather than have it hidden away behind a crusty cap or hat. So, unless it makes functional sense, consider leaving the hat at home.
10. Brands Upon Brands
It’s cool to wear one or two branded items, especially if it’s a company you love or care about. But too much can make you come across as materialistic and tacky. It’s especially worse if you have to tell the girl all about where you bought your clothes and how much you spent.
11. Saggy Pants
Now it’s time to talk about low-riding. Most women aren’t a fan, especially as they just come across as saggy and force you to walk around in a waddling fashion. Consider a belt instead and wear clothes that fit for a more mature and refined look.
12. Those Anime Shirts
Anime is cool, and plenty of anime shirts are fine. But then there are those anime shirts, the ones with very mature and compromising poses and subject matter. Men really should think twice before wearing that around in public, especially since it can come across as a bit creepy.
13. Oversized Sports T-Shirts
If you’re going to a game, then it’s totally valid. But the issue of fit and materials still matters. For example, some women might not love the fan shirt made of polyester that is three times their size. Of course, if you’re just lazing around at home with your partner, wear whatever is comfortable.
14. Broccoli Hair
This one has gained hate in recent years, and we might have social media platforms like TikTok to thank. Broccoli hair is essentially those bouncy curls that are popularized by younger generations. They make people come across as wanna-be influencers, so maybe consider a different look.
15. Shiny Polos
Wearing polos with company logos around every day is already a bit questionable. However, the shiny material ones are worse offenders. They’re unflattering to look at and come across as very abrasive. If you are going to wear a polo, keep it classic.
16. Too Much Camo
Unless you have a legitimate reason, too much camo can be a bit unnerving. One or two pieces is no big deal, but if you show up to a date in camo pants, shirts, and a hat, the girl might feel a bit concerned. It might leave them wondering if you even want them to see you or not.
17. Too Much Jewelry
Jewelry is cool for both men and women, but too much just comes across as tacky, and this goes for women, too. Want to wear a chain? Cool! How about a chunky bracelet? No problem! But how about both of those, plus some rings, plus dangly earrings, plus a big watch? That might be too much.
18. Clean Nails
Despite what you might think, manicures and nail care isn’t just for women. You don’t have to paint your nails, but you need to ensure they’re trimmed and cleaned. It’s a hygiene issue as much as it’s a fashion one.
19. Ill-Fitting Jackets
There’s nothing worse than a great look ruined by a terrible jacket choice. Wearing an oversized one isn’t going to make your arms look any bigger, and wearing one that’s too tight makes it look like you borrowed it from your dad. So, take some time to shop around and find the perfect jacket that actually suits you.
20. Ripped Clothes
While some ripped or distressed jeans are cool, be mindful about the rest of your outfit. For example, tears in your shirt or holes in your socks are going to make it seem like you just don’t care enough to get replacements. This all comes back to the whole effort thing from the beginning, as showcasing that you’re trying means more than any one specific item.
